Our student associations welcome prestigious guests at the FLD!
Every year, the involvement of our students in the associative life of the university and their perseverance in bringing in personalities from the legal and political worlds is the greatest pride of the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille. This year again, they have already managed to organise more than 8 conferences and still have some great headliners in store for us, which contribute to demonstrating the aura of the students of the Faculty of Law beyond its walls!
Like the most active associations, they have to prepare and convince the different personalities of the importance of their coming to the Faculty. Through their network, they do not hesitate to embark on these large-scale projects for which the power of persuasion is a real strength. Each in their own way and depending on the people they want to reach, their investment is flawless. From the initial contact to the arrival of their “target”, there is obviously a lot of back and forth on the potential content of the conference or debate, the questions that may or may not be addressed, but also the reception conditions, the logistics to be implemented, security, not to mention the invitation to the event. These experiences have the advantage of confronting them with reality and pushing them to the limits of their convictions. All the more interesting for our future lawyers!
For the Faculty of Law, this is also a very important learning experience for their autonomy, project management and their ability to adapt to an audience with which they are not used to. The students come out of this experience with a sense of accomplishment, as they do not hesitate to organise several conferences during the year, often targeting inspirational figures who help them in their career choices.
Thus, the academic year 2021/2022 has already shown us this deep commitment on their part by managing to invite renowned personalities to the Faculty of Law. Let us remember in particular the visit of Bernard Cazeneuve, former Prime Minister, who came to present his latest book : Le sens de la nation, Alain Juppé, also a former Prime Minister, who came to talk about the Fifth Republic, Gaullism, Jacques Chirac and even literature, and François Molins, former Public Prosecutor of Paris, who spoke about the issue of terrorism. To these guests were added Raphaël Glucksmann and many others, proof of this growing student motivation and of their need to surround themselves with new emblematic figures for them.
The 2022/2023 academic year has been just as brilliant so far, a logical continuation of the direction already taken by our students to surround themselves with remarkable lecturers, but above all a proof of their unwavering motivation to confront themselves directly with the real world through new experiences. In fact, since the start of the last academic year, more than 8 conferences have already been organised thanks to the associations Scienceposards, Polhicult’, Demos, les Engagés and Sotéria…. If we count political personalities such as a former Minister of Ecology, a former Prime Minister and a former French Ambassador in Algiers and Diplomat, the world of Law is not left out since our students have also had lawyers and essayists, European deputies and even a first president of the Court of Cassation..
Many other conferences will follow one another until the end of the academic year, making the Faculty of Law proud of this great commitment of its students to enhance the value of the Faculty in which they study. A big thank you to each of our associations!
